It's certainly elegante

Beautiful. It's amazing how your piano pieces are slowly evolving. Listening to your firsts nocturnes and preludes I can tell the changes ever since your fourth prelude, it's more like... romantic. I dont know how to describe this, these notes.. the way they've been played.. I'm always happy listening to your pieces, theres something on your style (1:34) that attracts me (And I'm sure I'm not the only one).

Please don't ever stop making music.
Keep up the amazing work 5/5 :D

Winterwind-NS responds:

Glad to hear from u again
:) i like 1:34 too (if ur talking about the cresc.)
thanks for the review my friend
expect more stuff soon, i just need help with a title right now lol

I like it! The solemn melodie is so peaceful, and somewhat similar to Pirates of the caribbean theme (weird).
It's a nice turn of mood at 1:07 to somewhat more happy, but I see a man releasing all his anguish(spelling?), impotence and wrath at 1:13, like the man wasn´t expecting him playing that, yet his psique made him do that in order to not fall in madness...

This is great! I only wish you had recorded this in GPO as usual, as you probably will.
Anyway, it's a great composition! I hope to hear more from you soon. 5/5.

You just turned in one of my favorites by the way.

Fuoco

MusicalRocky responds:

Similar to the POTC theme? We must be thinking of different POTC themes, because to me this doesn't sound much like it lol. However, the connotations this music has for you is not for me to argue.

Yeah, I thought 1:07 was quite nice. That slightly happy part (starting at :53) was him reflecting upon the joyful memories he shared with that loved one--

But then his anger overtakes all other emotions at 1:13. This part, however is not fully angry, but you can also hear the sadness in it as well. He's really slamming his fingers on the piano at the angry part, taking all his fury out on that instrument. His emotions are all over the place, and anger comes with sadness during the death of someone you love. The anger that you couldn't do anything about it, the anger that it had to happen.

I wish I could've recording this in Garritan as well. I don't have GPO though, and I feel horrible asking someone to record it for me. However, maybe if I win a certain contest...certain prize money may help me towards buying GPO.

Thank you, sir. I'm glad you enjoyed.

Rocky

Holy Crap1!

Man, this is so peaceful and yet, so cheerful :D. Really, I just wrote a kind of depressing letter and this cheered me up.
I love the main theme. And especially the crescendo at 0:44 to 0:51. The percussion is great and everything. What's that instrument you used as a background theme? (I wish I could describe the instruments I hear). Anyway, I like that too.
I wish you good luck in MAC6-October, too bad those bastards wont take the high-quality version as the contestant track.

I'm kidding about the "bastard" thing (Even if its true, lol jk).

Good Job! 5/5
I'm looking forward for more submissions from you.

Fuoco

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey, thanks. I had a kind of crappy day, and this review cheered me up. I'm glad this song was able to cheer you up too ;)

I spent some time developing the main theme, even going with it to C major. The only percussion instrument is tubular bells, and they were quite easy to write; I'm glad you liked it. Sorry, I don't know what background theme you mean (I wish I could answer your question).

Lol that's okay that this version won't be my contestant. I just hope people will focus on the actual compositional value of the piece. Thanks for your 5, man. I appreciate it.

*Smiles*

I love it! It's great!

The main melody is fantastic and how you used it to progress was just fine. I like how the violins starts the melody, maybe is a lil forte... or maybe its just Finale (lol, who knows).

Yeah, you should change your software. Finale kind of messes up. I use Finale as well but I also use Garritan as an output. Anyways...

The 0:18 note just SAVED the song from getting repetitive, my favorite part as well :D (listened to it like # times).

Isnt this song a lil sad for your boyfriend? Or maybe it's just me :)

Anyway, Great song!
You should make more, you have an amazing potential.

5/5 from me (please make more)

Fuoco

Gate-keeper-girl responds:

Yeah, I don't exactly like the volume of the violin, I should have it come in softer *squints at the computer screen*

Finale = D: for me.

0:18 ? Interesting. I rather like the harmony at 0:47.

Sad? Well, actualy I was on a talk session with Luke when I was playing this and editing it on the computer x3 it was midnight when I finished, and he fell asleep to the finall cut rendition of it. ( <3 )

I have more on the way.
Be sure to check out my flashes ;D

Gotta watch the movie!

Hey, it's good to know you've submitted something so fast :)

Ahh... the first note reminded me of your "Street Fighter-KensTheme-Piano" song. Not because of the played notes, but because of the fermatta.

Something I loved was the 0:26 note. I listened to that part about 5 times. Oh, and the 0:33-34 gives a nice continuation to the song.

Now, here comes a part that wants to make me stand up and start dancing, or punching someone :D 0:46 to 0:57, I like how it's getting furious.

I imagined some other instruments playing at 1:05 and 1:07, if it were an orchestra I mean. In the other hand those pauses would sound cool on orchestra as well. Ahh! It's hard to decide!

I would've loved to hear a slower paced part near the ending, like adding an 8va up in that part or something so it can finish with power with a normal tempo. That would be awesome.

Overall I loved the song! I have always liked this song and I'm glad to hear it arranged on piano. And a LIVE recording with GOOD sound quality (Hehe, you did it).

I will defenitely watch this movie, I feel like watching it :D
Ohh wait! I better go on other city, pay a visit to a friend (I want to see her so bad...) and watch the movie together. Yup! That I'll do :)

5/5 from me (as usual)

Keep 'em coming!

afliXion responds:

You heard almost the exact same things I did! The first thing I thought while arranging this was about how the beginning was like Ken's theme.
When I make a piano arrangement, I like to stick to the original as close as I can,.. so no slow ending. :)
Yes, more are coming.

Phil. 4:13

"I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

Mmm..

Ohh! Now I understand the title :P

Yeh, it does sounds like some other Christian songs I've heard before, my fav part is the break at 1:04. Such as 3:20 and 3:29.

The ending was nice too, err... I still dont know much about music theory/definitions. Is that at the end called glissando? (If it is) loved that glissando (or whatever it's called).

Ehm. I dont know what else to say, sorry :S.

4/5 from me (only because of the volume)
+download.

Expecting more songs from you.

FuocoOnAshes

afliXion responds:

I'm glad you can take the song how I meant it to be taken... most people don't do that.
Your favorite parts are the parts where it movies into the minor 6th chords.. I like those parts too.
A Glissando is where you slide from one note to another instead of pressing each note. A pianist can glide his hand across the keyboard, but its not a true glissando like a violinist can do. The ending would be called a 'minor Plagal cadence." That is, it went from a minor 4 to a 1. (iv - I)
I wish it could be louder too.... I'll figure a way. :)

I like it

lol, at 0:07 sounds like the typical "Columbia pictures" movie intro :p (Columbia pictures?) but sounds fine because of the change at 0:12.

I dont think that 0:18 to 0:32 was necesary, I know it has variations from the earlier seconds but I just think it should've had more variations in there. Or is just me.

1:23 is very Chopin like, wich is great.

Now, 1:56 to 2:05 its an excellent break! Calm and quite relaxing... you played that part just fine. Same to 2:53 to 3:05.
I think those two are my favorites parts :D

Overall, I loved the chord progression. It was awesome. I just wish I didnt have to turn my volume up 150% to hear this. But since its a live recording I guess is ok.

You are a great pianist afliXion, I hope to see more work from you in the future.

6/5 from me
+ Download.

FuocoOnAshes

afliXion responds:

Ha. I'd never thought of that, but your right it does. BTW, I did not write this song. I don't remember who did right now though.... I'll be more clear next time.
Its just you. Heh.
The turn was pretty Chopinish wasn't it. You'd think I would like Chopin, but I don't really. its weird.
I like the chord progression to.. Even though its kind of old. Again, I'm working on the volume. ;)
I'm glad you liked it, and you will definetly hear more soon!

What the hell?

Seriously, you should defenitely get some better software than Finale, I mean, I use it as well, but for composing only... You should defenitely get Garritan Personal Orchestra, or Edirol or something. Because this music is great, is JUST GREAT. But its quality is messed up.

I mean, That's the reason people like Winterwind-NS or MaestroSorrow gets the best score, is not only because of their talents at writing music but also because of their equipment. If they arranged it in Finale instead of their software their music wouldnt be that great.

Now I understand that it costs, and is probably the reason of why you dont get it.

But you should seriously get it.

At 00:15 is quite your style. Something very original :p.
I just wished you didn't added that Electric guitar(or whatever it is) at 00:40. I dont know.. its kind of loud. Gives a nice melody tough.
Something I loved was the bass violins 01:02, excellent work.

I've read the verses you quoted.
Yeh, it kind of gives the feeling you wanted to print into it, the intro most of it. Good job.

Favorite part? Defenitely 01:46 to 02:15.

I wonder... why dont you ever post on Classical?
(except for your "As I Enter The Gates of Heaven" piece, wich is another wonderful composition if you ask)

5/5 from me

FuocoOnAshes

afliXion responds:

I totally agree with you about my equipment. Finale is terrible for play back. But with the reverb from Audobe Audtion it makes it alil better. I haven't heard of those 2 that you named, but I'll look into it.
15 is my style ya know... Its where the soprano comes in. An orchestra just isn't complete without the sopranos.
The electric guitar is the only instrument that could project of the orchestra. (In Finale I mean) But I like it!
Again I would like to thank you for taking the time to read about what really inspired this piece... I really appreciate that as most ppl just don't care.
I don't post on classical because... this isn't classical! heh. I am a classicaly trained musician.. (well, i've only studied viola and theory) and I guess I'm more strict on what is classical and what isn't. I didn't follow any classical form for this piece.
You're my new favorite reviewer. :)

Nice and calm

I just wish you had left more space before begining, its an abrupting start and kind of mess up the first impression on the song. This impression, of course, change when listening to your song.

I like the title! It goes along with the melody just fine, it has a cold feeling in it.

I like the crescendos as well, it gets louder but not annoying, wich is good.

At 1:43, its the moment the piano saves the song from getting repetitive, my favorite part as well :p

I love the variations everywhere, somebody could say the bass is repetitive, but anyone with a fine ear will notice its not true.

Good Job sorohanro!

Welcome to classical section :)

sorohanro responds:

thanx for review, when i started it i had in my mind only the middle part,so for me the rest of it is only a very long introduction(first piano then winds and, finaly the srtings)usualy i am carefull with the form, but sometimes feelings don't fit in simetrycal forms...ps. check also on yosmil music, that is one of the best music i found on this portal

Great!

I don't understand how is no one reviewing this, it's a great piece!
I could listen to it several times and not get bored (I couldn't even notice when it ended).

It's like.. I define: a "killing time" song.
Seriously, I spent a long time listening to it. It's almost subliminal. LOL.

Anyway, good job! It's not like me to listen this kind of music and I still liked it.

5/5 from me. Hope you do more.
