Man, they asked for a cool submission. Just a good one.
But you've exaggerated
This is not just a good song. It's an UNBELIEVABLE song :D
And not only that, I can perfectly picture this song into castle crashers. Fits perfectly. I bet you'll win.
Only God could compose a better song for this contest! I tell ya ;)
I love how you manipulate all those instruments. You must be fearless to use them all and create a great harmony.
I love how there are short peaceful moments after a BANG. Like the flute (or is it a piccolo?) at 0:54 and how it contributes to the melody. Creates a very special mood :)
STUPID REDESIGN! Took me like 10 minutes to type the last sentence >:(

So this one was certainly quite a surprise, I'm glad you didn't awaited long to upload your submissions :D

All in all, 5/5 and my 10 stars :D (lol rocky, I think I would have given 0 stars too if I didn't accidentaly clicked it)

Once again, Amazing Job!

Winterwind-NS responds:

thanks for the lovely review!

:D

Ohh the piano. My favorite instrument...
What an amazing intro! It gets you in a nice mood right away! Great melody, the way the notes are being played just makes this song roll throu my head over and over. Certainly catchy.
0:24 - Nice choice of instruments. The percussion you used it's actually very interesting. Very movie like.
Oh, the violins :D There was no way you could miss putting violins into this song, very nice background. I specially like them at 0:56, I like it when a melody suddenly changes into a sorrowful mood.
1:19 - Now, this is something that I always liked about you, a piano solo part after the whole band played already
1:41 - OMG here starts a powerful... determination like melodie. Like when you're about to make an important decision. To live or die (sort of, lol).
2:00 - New percussion? woot! Now the whole band is back! Good, good. They're back to introduce the ending, a simple and powerful ending. I liked that echo btw.

Wonderful, I can't believe I've never reviewed you before.

Keep them coming!! ;)

I had a listen to your work. fived both pieces.

You are an amazing pianist. I hope to hear more from you as well.

Cheers Mate.

Energizing!

Holy... I like how the violins comes in, how they are used as bass at 0:20.
What's that instrument used at 0:14? Is a nice instrument to use it with a trumpet :D
Holy crap! The energizing part! (0:33)Screw energizer and Duracell! I stay with this song lol :D.
Its a really nice melodie, I liked how you used the timpani to end the song.
Keep that up Rocky! Your orchestras are getting better and better everytime I check on your page :D
5/5

By the way, I've just composed a new song :D I tought you might wanna check out :p

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey man. Glad you stopped by.

At :20, did you mean the strings playing the harmony? I like that part too :D

At 0:14, the trumpet and trombone are doing call and answer melody, while French horn is doing whole note harmony.

Yeah haha 0:33 is very energetic. I'm glad you like the melody and the piece. (Btw the timpani playing at the very end was Winterwind's idea, so props to him for that.)

Thanks for the review, and you bet I'm coming over to your page right now.

Rocky

Wonderfully done :D

What an impressive piece! Is not much of an intro, but that's ok when 0:13 comes in. Something that's been always so impressive for me is how a musician is capable to create a melody and stick to that melody, and with that, composing every possible variation off that melody. Like extracting its juice :p. Something I'm not capable of :(, but someday I will I hope.
0:56 :D, I have always liked how a high note break the melody. Only to introduce the chorus (Wow, I think I've just learned something).
2:10 Only listening to the left hand at that part I'd knew it was you. Its almost the same notes of that beautiful song called "Liscio - Piano".
Beautiful ending, I always prefer calm endings after an agitated melody. Oh! But the noises when you stand is precisely what makes this song so cool(LOL joking :p)

Now, I disagree with the last review. I dont think it has the feeling like something bad just happened. It does have a "doloroso" feeling tough, but its more like a good pain. Like the pain a mother feels as she sees his child leaving because he is already a man. But is also a good thing. Its a pain combined with love: a good pain :p
Lets see what you were aiming for:
Psalm 117:2
"For great is his love toward us,and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD"

:D
I knew it.
You did an amazing job afliXion.

By the way, I've just uploaded a new song :D wanna check out?

Fuoco

afliXion responds:

Reviews like this are rare, and I just want to say how much I really appreciate it!
So, the intro you heard wasn't actually an intro, it was the end of the first verse and chorus. Like it says in the description of this piece, the first verse I had to cut cause the song is to big for NG. With the first verse it's 6 minutes.
If you want to learn to 'juice up' a melody, I have two hints for you. Think about which chords are common to both keys. A simple example: C major and A minor, both those keys have D minor. You can exploit that. Another thing is to take advantage of enharmonic spelling. Like, an E-flat can also be a D sharp. I used this technique in this piece actually, with those same notes.
As for what the song really means, both of you reviewers are on the right track actually. The word 'endure' implies that there is something fighting you, and enduring praise means that you carry on, despite the hardships. The verse from Psalms I quoted is to remind us that God will endure so we must too. That's a rather short exegesis but it will do for here.
Again, I really want to thank you for such a great review!

I DO!

With such song playing the "continue?" menu, who doesnt? :D
Now, it does sounds like a continue melodie... in the begining. After that it sounds like an ending theme, but that's not a bad thing :) It's great cause I wasnt expecting that :p

You did a wonderful work placing the harp at 00:12, that was like giving an intro to 00:17 instruments(I dont know how those instruments are called, sounds like celesta but more... mystic). Anyway, that part sounds like a victory.. er..dungeon...map... theme? AHH! its hard to tell. It's so great it could be anything ;)

I liked how you composed this, there's always this...scent of you in your music that makes it unique. Liked the ending too, altough it was too happy for my taste ;)

Great job you did here! Keep that up :D

Fuoco

P.D.
I gotta check out your other songs too, I've been missing them for a long time.

afliXion responds:

Wow. You know you almost all the things I thought myself!
I also thought it started to sound like an ending theme. Infact I toyed with the idea of adding some other phrases, and an introduction. But in the end it was just better as it is.
The mystic sound you're talking about was made by a unison between harp and celesta, and the voice synth probably helped the mystic quality too.
I also agree that this has my 'scent.' When I played this melody for the first time on my little keyboard I was thinking how it sounded like a typical 'me' melody.
The melody itself is a bit ambiguous in terms of key, it could go major or minor. So I chose major revealing that you did infact choose to continue.
I'm really glad to hear you liked it and as always thanks for the review.
More stuff is coming. :)

:( ...hh

You...
How do you do it?
This piece is incredible...
As I am speechless now, proves that this piece have taken my 4.5 lts of air from my lungs.

And C minor?? Best key ever :D

This piece makes me think of Raquel, she moved to Spain. It kind of describes my feelings of not being able to see her, nor touch her or fight her...

Dang now I'm getting nostalgic :(

You keep making wonderful music my friend, you have a great future up ahead of you.

Winterwind-NS responds:

:) thanks for the lovely review
and YES! C minor is my favorite key.
random things pop into my head wen i start in c minor..

"As I am speechless now, proves that this piece have taken my 4.5 lts of air from my lungs."

u mean 4.5 liters? if so, :)

again thanks

Nice

I like this version man but..
Did you really remixed this?
Cause I'm sure I've heard this version before.
I actually placed the sheet music on finale and sounds pretty much the same.

There you can find that sheet music.

Explain please :S
If I am mistaken: I'm sorry and great work.

Distortzion responds:

link doesn't work, but I''m sure that I did at least 65% of this song myself :|

wow :D

This is certainly a catchy tune, I had it in my mind in classes and that may sound wrong but that prvented me from falling asleep in microbiology class :p.
I showed this song to a friend of mine and he said it sounds like a song you hear in a bar lol.
I like it's progress, 0:16 to 0:20 is my favorite part.

5/5
It's a cool song! Hope to hear more from you :D

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey. Catchy, eh? That's good (especially the whole keeping you awake at school thing lol. I didn't know my music could do that.) A bar song? rofl that's funny. 0:16-0:20 is my favorite too, that's cool.

Thanks for the review, thanks for using GPO on it. I'll try to write more soon :D

Rocky

Edvard Grieg must be happy

Nah, he's probably just having orgasms. lol.
Anyways, it's as crazy as a weed smoking a cow! I love how fast the violin is being played, the cello is doing a good job going along the violin, those two make a good couple :D
I like how you return to your maintheme used in your previous movements, it almost makes you feel nostalgic.
It's amazing how you mastered this area.

Keep that up! And don't ever stop submitting >:(

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey, man, thanks for coming round to review this. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Haha yeah I went a lil nuts with this one. I tried to not make one or the other, the violin or the cello, to be the main voice. As in, I didn't want solely one of them to have the melody all the time. It's about half and half.

Yeah I felt, hey, it's the finale, I better bring some earlier themes back in here :D.

I'll try to keep up works like this, and I'll never stop submitting >:(

Haha thanks again

Rocky

What the hell?

Another nocturne!? I'm so happy to hear another nocturne from you! I tought I was going to die before listening to another nocturne :D

Mesto?
*Searchs in altavista*
I can't find what that means :(

Man, I like this. It's an original and fresh idea. I love how you composed this song, how you used that simple melodie and turn it into something great. 1:27-1:28... these grace notes just catched me.

This is so great..
That you should eat a cookie.
Keep up the amazing work! :D

P.D.
Could I have the sheet music?
dr.hernandezg@gmail.com
Oh, and Prelude no. 7 Lento Elegante too.
Thanks! :p

Winterwind-NS responds:
