How perfectly marvelous!

I listened to this song in the rain, and extra-enjoyed this song. There's no boring chords here like many fast-paced piano pieces. This one actually has a melody, a soul. There's a lot of emotion for a presto song, and that's wonderful.
Not much of an intro, but that's ok. My favorite part: The waltzy rythm. Certainly an impressive waltz that reminds me a bit to chopin's waltz in b minor (b?). This song also has a bit of cirquesque... wierd, but an evil clown (lol) comes to my head in a few parts of this song.
I'm so glad to hear you're mexican. I am too, and now I confirm that there's no need to be asian to compose wonderful music.

Also, I'm a bit curious. Can you tackle this piece? I'd understand if you didn't, sounds like a bitch to play :D

Anyway, your a new favorite. 5/5
Keep that up, I'll be checking your other submissions.

RemiLegend responds:

haha i know man, every time i hear a pretty sool song i find out that the author is asian haha...
actually i composed the waltzy part first, but since i didn't know what else to put i just made up that sloppy intro haha...of course i can tackle it! thats me playing live..i dont know how to use any applications to compose =S

thanks for the review! =)

>:)

This song is real badass. I like how the intro sets the right mood. That sharp sound that begins at 0:46 is pretty neat, I can picture so many things in my head as I listen to this, like Jet-li kicking some ass but.. no, sounds greater than that. I showed this to some friends and they wanted me to tell you something... but I forgot! :O
Anyway, they loved it too. The soft part at 1:16 was really mellow. That'd be a reason of why I like this so much, is not only madness, it is also... you know, like... yeah. If I had to define this song with a colour, that would be prurple. When I listen to music, a color comes to my head. This sounds purple, and maybe a bit blue (lol I'm wierd).
Also, I'm curious. What's cramoisi? I googled it but it's in french :(, something like a pigment (A color after all? lol)

Anyway, I bet my ass you'll win this MAC, I've heard other entries and they are not even half as good as yours.

Once again, amazing work.
Never stop inspiring us.

Winterwind-NS responds:

haha Jet li
yeah i could see him kicking multiple ppls faces in a single jump to this
tell ur friends i said thanks!
the soft parts were something i made sure i had cuz it just seems kinda annoying and unbearable if an entire song is just loud intense smashing. it fit well in this song i feel.
purple? well cramoisi means crimson lol
anyways, thanks for your support and your high hopes of me
thanks thanks1!

Romantic

It gave me the romantic feeling at many parts. Also, a bit sad at 0:50-1:00. I think that'd be my favorite part. Also, the way it is now, sounds like something that could be played in a church, by an organ. That's my complaint because a lot of church music goes a bit random, and this sounds a bit random in some parts. But I think it sounds like that because its a solo, and its a bit hard to follow the melody with no other instruments leading the path. It's ok the way it is, but this is like the 6th time I'm listening to this and I just can hear other instruments being played and making it sound, not just ok, but awesome!
If you ever feel like working more on this with more istruments I'd be more than just happy to hear, because I really like this melody.
Also, you're freaking good with the violin :D
Also, some freaking bastard bited my dog >:(
Keep that up man! :D

Fuoco

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey!

Romantic wasn't something that I was particularly going for, but it happened all the same lol. (Solo violins can do that.) 0:50-1:00 is a good part indeed, because it goes pseudo-minor on you, with F and C naturals. Church organ eh? That's a cool idea. But yeah it does sound a bit random because often times there is no articulation on the first beat so it sounds kinda weird without a constant rhythm. I want to put a piano with it, but it's harder than I thought. Plus my concerto is taking precedence at the moment :P

But I'll do it eventually!

Thanks for reviewing man, I'm glad you liked it anyway.

Oh the memories..

This song made me remember those ol' days playing Zelda with my fellows. Not that I was listening to a trance song while playing it, but the way it's structured is damn nice. I just wish I heard more of that drum used in 0:37-38, using that instrument more along the song would have overpowered the piece. Altough, you were probably looking for a calm feel. If so, good job on that.
I liked the ending, I'm glad it didn't just cutted off all of a sudden.
Good job man!

Fuoco

Zeke30695 responds:

Thanks, I tried different ways to make it, but it ended up sounding like a trance song XD, but I must say, this end result was better than the first one of it, man, that sounded horrible >.< XD

Lovely :D

I like this MJTTOMB! I feel like there couldn't be any other instrument better than the piano to display such emotions (You can tell what's my favorite instrument, heh).
After reading the lyrics, the song now has a new meaning. This is not only sad, but also a bit cheerful.. I truly admire anyone with such abilities, being able to change moods within the same piece is one of the aspects in music that I enjoy most. And you have done a wonderful job on that. Congratulations.
It's great that you changed this to minor, in major it could have sounded way too cheerful for the lyrics.
It's a great melody, a friend of mine told me that anyone can come up with a good melody, but its what you do with that melody that counts. So you did a wonderful job on the accompaniment, it really sets the atmosphere.

Just one little complaint. I wasn't really happy with the ending, it's kind of sudden because there was nothing warning me that it was about to end. Like a ritardando part or fading out (I'm glad you didn't fade out tho, I don't like 'em).
But I understand you must respect the original melody, so it's not a big deal.

I'll listen some of you other stuff, you kept my interest.
By the way, I did read what you said at BrokenRequiem's post. Maybe you might wanna check out my stuff, I always appreciatte suggestions from real musicians.
5/5 + fav'd!

Fuoco

MJTTOMB responds:

I most certainly will check your stuff out when i get home, man! Thanks for the review!

I like it! It's nice and calm, just like a lullaby is supossed to be. I like the main melody, and that left hand makes me think like I'm in somewhere in a fantasy dream, and I somehow can't realize its just a dream.
Peaceful, yet somewhat dramatic in the minor part. I don't know, its like not everything is going well in that dream, altough is not enterely dramatic because of that accented note at 0:36, every great composer knows how to change moods in the same part of the song and return to the original mood (if intended). And you did a great job with that, congratz :D
I wish you win the DAC man. But that doesn't mean I'm not giving you competition >:)

More songs, plz! Keep that up!

Fuoco

MusicalRocky responds:

Calm and fantasy-dream-ness...good, that's how I wanted you to feel with this piece ;)

Yep, the minor part is supposed to represent a nightmare kinda/sorta. So yeah, good interpretation of that. I felt coming back to the "sweet dreams feel" was pretty essential, to get that calm and lullaby feeling re-established. :)

Thanks man, though I hope Simon wins to be honest. Thanks for reviewing.

Rocky

Man...

I couldn't help it... I HAD to review this..
For some reason this song fits well with me, my personality I guess.
My favorite song from you was your third nocture... but now this piece has taken his place. My favorite piece by you winter, you never stop amazing me, to think a day ago you planned on making a new entry and the next day you come up with this :)
I wanted to be the first one reviewing this piece!, and I would've done it if I didn't had any problems with my account >:(. Anyway, that doesn't matter anymore.
What a ingenious way to compose a waltzy rhythm! Crotales and something-else-I-don't-recognize (pizzicato violins with some kind of cymbals?) usage was pure genious! And using woodwinds for such a beautiful melody was a perfect choice. Woodwinds are sure awesome, and expansive :( lol.
I agree with DS555, this gave us all a night feeling. Night feeling melodies are my favorites, they like... fill me up.
You're truly an inspiration, never stop surprising us!

Beautiful job...
That's all I can say.

Fuoco

Winterwind-NS responds:

Hey fuoco
your favorite eh? awesome!
i think u were talking about tamborines..
indeed woodwinds are very versatile instruments
thanks so much fuoco for your reviews

Ha! >:D

A perfect castle crashers feel! :D This sure goes into the game. It does sounds like that kind of battle you're talking about.
I googled "castle crashers The mill creature" but found nothing :(, yet, I can imagine.
It's a very catchy melody. I like that "Dum-da-da Dum-da" bass at the begining. An excellent use of instruments, as usual :D
I like this because it's not only a funny piece, but also a powerful song >:D
Lol, the violins at 0:13 reminded me of "Home alone", I don't know why haha. But I like the progress of those violins (mF-F-FF) at 0:19-0:25. It sure feels like a moment full of adrenaline.
I feel the break at 0:32 was totally random, but it was sure a very nice break :D and loops perfectly! I've listened to this about 10 times already and it's hard to tell when it ends. Props for that!
I really liked this man! I seriously hope you win :D Even though there's over 110 entries I'm sure you'll spot #1
Keep that up man! 5 straight from me!

I love calm music :)

For every hero that never made it to the end...
There's no doubt the author comments really affects the song itself, by only reading and listening really set a mournful/glorious mood. It's sad, but also memorable.
I really like this melody and the instrument of choice. Nothing better than a nice flute to calm things down :D
I like the slow progress of this song, I'm talking about how after the sweet calm comes the chorus at 0:16 and gives the melody a memorable moment. Reminded me of "The lion king" for some weird reason :p
The violins at 0:30-0:31 was a nice dramatic touch. And loops very well! I personally find it very hard to loop anything :(, but I'll just keep learning and learning.
You know, I think the main reason I liked this song very much is because this is the kind of music my best friend loves. She is now in Spain and I haven't seen her in exactly 355 days :(, so this song makes me miss her even more.
I'll send her this song let's see what she thinks :D I'm sure she'll love it.
Thank you for giving me a nice moment. I feel like writing to her again.
Keep that up Maestro! A perfect 5 from me!

Fuoco

P.S.
It's the first time I'm revewing you, but I've been listening to your music ages ago :D

MaestroRage responds:

Hello Fuoco.

I am a great fan of peaceful music myself. Despite my alias name, though I do love the occasional ripping, blood thirsty booming track, sitting in my chair, with the cool breeze gliding in... there is just no better feeling for me then that whilst listening to some gentle tracks like this. A large source of inspiration to make them stems from a single burst of wind.

Perhaps i'm crazy? If I am, I wouldn't trade it in for sanity for anything.

To have not seen this person for nearly an entire year... it must be hard. There are many people I would like to meet that are over seas, but I do not know them well enough to yearn their companionship. I hope the two of you will be together soon! I too hope she likes it!

Thank you for the review Fuoco! I'm glad you liked it!

My favorite :D

From all your submissions this is the one I like most! Very war like, marching and encouraging the soldiers to walk to victory and glory :O
I know I told you this already, but this one is damn catchy!
I like the intro very much, the way you used the trombone, cello, viola, bass like: "dotted8th- 16th-16th; dotted8th- 16th-16th..." is what makes me move my head&hands with the melody, fits perfectly to the melody.
0:19-0:37 is my favorite part. This is the part I'm talking about when I said it's like marching and encouraging the soldiers, like saying "This is what we're trained for everyone! Be ready! For this moment shall be ours forever! >:O"
0:56-1:08. Man! I really really love those triplets! This is the moment for truth, when the castle is finally breached and now the emotions flow with adrenaline as they yell and run to engage the enemy >:(
A very inspiring piece Rocky, very well done. :D
Your music is going better and better very quickly.
A well deserved five from me. Keep that up man!

Fuoco

MusicalRocky responds:

Hey! I'm glad this is your favorite, it's one of mine as well :D

Catchy, eh? Great, that's what I was going for. I also like the rhythm in the intro, and I'm glad you noticed it!

0:19-0:37...I'm guessing that's the flute solo? (I'm not listening to the song, so I can't be sure) If so, that was a really fun part to write. I like the imagery you got from it.

Aha that faster part with triplets, yes, they are upon the castle, gaining entrance. I can feel the adrenaline in here too :D

Thanks for reviewing, Fuoco, and thanks for the five! : )
